What is a skin therapist?
In the Netherlands, a skin therapist (huidtherapeut) is a paramedical professional with a bachelor’s degree in skin therapy. It is a protected title. I am registered in the Dutch Quality Register for Paramedics (Kwaliteitsregister Paramedici) and a member of the Dutch Association of Skin Therapists (NVH).
Skin therapist or dermatologist?
A skin therapist is not a dermatologist. A dermatologist is a medical specialist who diagnoses skin conditions and prescribes medication. I treat the skin with techniques such as peels, microneedling and coagulation. If I see something that needs a medical diagnosis, I will refer you to your GP (huisarts).

Frequently asked questions
Do you speak English?
Yes. I do consultations and treatments in English, and you can message me in English via WhatsApp or email.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly. Some insurers ask for a referral if you want to claim the costs, so check your policy first.
Is treatment covered by my Dutch health insurance?
Basic health insurance (basisverzekering) does not cover skin therapy for conditions like acne. Supplementary insurance (aanvullende verzekering) may cover part of the costs for a medical indication, depending on your policy. Cosmetic treatments, such as anti-aging, are not covered. If you have international health insurance, check with your insurer.
